The Harrison County Government Center is located at 538 North Main Street; Cadiz, OH 43907, in the building which formerly housed the headquarters of R&F Coal. The building houses most of the Harrison County government offices not located in the Harrison County Courthouse. These include the Child Support Enforcement Agency, Health Department, OSU Extension, Soil & Water Conservation District, Emergency Management Agency, Auto Title Office, Auto License Bureau, and Community Improvement Corporation.

The Harrison County Commissioners began discussions with the owner of the building regarding the possibility of county acquisition in early 2001. Following the tragic events of September 2001, the Commissioners concluded that the safety and security of county employees and county residents who visit their offices could be improved significantly by housing multiple county offices in a single location, rather than having them scattered around the village of Cadiz. Toward that end, in April 2002 the Commissioners acquired two buildings and approximately 22 acres of land to be used for future development.

Renovations to the main building began immediately, and tenants began occupying the premises in June. As of September 23, all County offices scheduled to move to the new facility have relocated and are open for business.

Directions to the Government Center

From Points North (Cleveland, Akron, Canton)

Take I-77 South to New Philadelphia 
Take US 250 East to Dennison/Uhrichsville 
Take the exit ramp to the Right, just through the traffic light (McDonald's on Left; Arby's on Right) Go east on US 250 to the flashing red light, and turn Left 
Take US 250 approx. 23 miles to an interchange with US 22 
Take US 22 East 
Go past the first exit (Rt. 9 at McDonald's) 
Continue 7/10 mile East, and turn Right at Atlas Gas sign 
Turn Left at bottom of hill/ramp Government Center is on Right

From Points South (St. Clairsville, Wheeling) 

Take I-70 West from Wheeling to Rt. 9 exit 
Travel Rt. 9 North to Cadiz 
At the Courthouse in Cadiz, go through traffic light and travel approx. 1.35 miles 
Government Center is on Right

From Points East (Pittsburgh, Steubenville) 

Take US 22 West to Rt.7 North 
Bear Left after approx. 1 mile on Rt. 7 to US 22 West 
Travel US 22 West approx. 25 miles to Cadiz 
    (road will narrow to 2 lanes for several miles, and widen again to 4 lanes) 
Approx.1/4 mile after the road widens again, turn Left at Atlas Gas sign 
Turn Left at bottom of hill/ramp

From Points West (Columbus, Cambridge) 

Take I-70 East to Cambridge 
Take I-77 North 
Take the US 22 East exit (second exit) 
Travel approx. 40 miles to Cadiz 
Pass the first 2 exits (US 250 and Rt. 9) 
After the second exit, continue 7/10 mile East, and turn Right at Atlas Gas sign 
Turn Left at bottom of hill/ramp
